1.  The Drainage Basin

 

Sketch or find a diagram of the drainage basin - read page 80 and watch this clip

2. River Processes 

 

There are 4 processes of erosion you must know

Use the boardworks powerpoint to help you learn them (open it from the front page of the GEOG website via FROG)

Write definitions - using page 82 to help you

  • Hydraulic Action
  • Abrasion
  • Solution
  • Attrition

The river uses these processes of erosion to shape the landscape it flows through - the DIRECTION of erosion can be VERTICAL or LATERAL - see page 80 to explain where these operate along the course of a river.
